Our Programs

Providing creative learning opportunities for underserved youths in California since 2018.

Our special programs provide students and community members with access to a variety of arts education and enrichment opportunities. Pulse Arts is committed to making the arts accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Art Therapy

Pulse Arts has partnered with Manifesting M.E. Wellness Clinic to offer art therapy programs to students and community members. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art materials and processes to help people explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It can be used to improve mental health, cope with trauma, and promote self-expression.

Approximately 37% of students we serve have some disability and an Individual Education Plan (IEP)

Arts in Corrections

Pulse Arts has partnered with Beats Lyrics Leaders to offer arts education programs to incarcerated youth and adults. These programs provide participants with the opportunity to learn about and engage in a variety of art forms, including theater, music, and dance. The programs are designed to help participants develop their creative skills, build self-confidence, and reduce recidivism rates.

Less than 1% of our students were on probation

Pipeline to Politics

Pulse Arts has partnered with Beats Lyrics Leaders to offer the Pipeline to Politics program. This program is designed to prepare students for careers in politics and public service. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn about the political process, develop their leadership skills, and network with professionals in the field.

Maidu Arts Reclamation

Pulse Arts has partnered with Beats Lyrics Leaders to offer the Arts Reclamation program to the Maidu Tribe. This program is designed to help the Maidu Tribe reclaim and revitalize their traditional arts and culture. The program provides participants with the opportunity to learn about traditional Maidu art forms, such as basket weaving, beadwork, and storytelling.

Students of low socioeconomic status who have high exposure to the arts have better academic outcomes, set higher career goals, and become more civically engaged. They are three times more likely to earn a bachelor's degree than their peers who receive little or no access to the arts.

AMPed!

AMPed! is Pulse Arts’ flagship program. It is a mentorship program that pairs professional artists with youth to support them in their creative development. AMPed! provides youth with a paid opportunity to learn from experienced artists, develop their skills, and create their own work.

Occupations such as Curators, Archivists, Writers/Authors, Music Directors are some of the least diverse in the Arts field with only 14-18% of the workforce is comprised of Black or Hispanic workers

Mobile Media Center

Pulse Arts has partnered with Candid Collabs to offer the Mobile Media Center program. This program provides students with access to state-of-the-art video production and podcasting equipment. The program also offers workshops and training on video production techniques.

More than 4% of classifiable sound recording businesses are owned by African Americans.

Poetry Out Loud

Pulse Arts has partnered with LACOE VAPA to sponsor Poetry Out Loud competitions. Poetry Out Load is a national poetry recitation competition for high school students. The program is designed to help students develop their appreciation for poetry and their public speaking skills.

Arts Gifted/Magnet support- K-12

Pulse Arts provides support to identify arts gifted students and intensive programming for magnet schools in Los Angeles County. This support includes professional development for teachers, curriculum development, and access to arts resources.

About 1/4 of the students we serve are unhoused/housing insecure or are in foster homes

Arts Internship Host Organization for The Intern Project and Otis School of Art and Design’s Artists, Community and Teaching Program since 2021

All Option School programming included Positive Behavioral Intervention and Art Therapy specific curriculum

Dual- Enrollment Studio Arts support- in conjunction with LA Southwest College

Pulse Arts provides support to dual-enrollment students looking to explore Studio Arts at LA Southwest College. This support includes financial contributions for art supplies, mentorship and an annual exhibition.
