Immersive Artistic Journey

At Audubon Middle School, students engage in an immersive artistic journey that emphasizes the creative process, resulting in remarkable artistic achievements. The diverse and vibrant artworks they produce reflect the depth of their exploration of colors, textures, and forms during collaborative art therapy sessions. Furthermore, through their exploration of various art forms such as clay manipulation and sculpting, students develop mastery in material manipulation, leading to a heightened level of creative expression. Each artwork stands as a testament to the unique and authentic creativity of its creator, showcasing their individual artistic voice and vision.

In Ms. Alum’s class, students were influenced by exploring different cultures and created a form of therapy clip art. In Mr. Kemker’s class, students focused on understanding various tools and materials. We learned to use mediums such as clay, paint brushes, carving tools, and our hands to create exceptional art through group art therapy. Our primary focus was on the process rather than the outcome, and the results are truly impressive. These artworks vividly showcase the vibrant colors and textures of the paint palettes we used through a sense of group art therapy. Additionally, we explored pottery and honed our skills in manipulating clay and sculpting. Mastering these tools enabled students to express creativity more effectively. Each piece is a unique and genuine reflection of the creator.

Theme: Color Expression in Culture Mr. Kemker’s class focuses on cultural studies and we wanted to integrate that into these artworks. So many mediums are used throughout various cultures so we went for a multimedia type of course where they are doing 2D pieces and 3D pieces spanning from paintings to pottery. For pottery we explored air dry clay and cultural carvings and icons using clay tools. We use vibrant colors of the student’s choice to allow highlights of their cultural influence shine! Among other projects we did portraits of our self or a character of our inner self. We used lessons in facial proportions and then allowed room for exaggeration. It was a treat to see the influence of fashion, food and music get integrated into these wonderful pieces you see before you today.
