Happy Giving Tuesday!

through the arts. Join Us!

Pulse Arts is a proud host for high school and college interns each year.
We are in our 4th year with The Intern Project (TIP) as a summer host
organization for high school students. We are also in our 4th year as
a partner with the Otis College of Art and Design Interdisciplinary
Studies Department where we host future art educators and guide
them through a semester of team teaching at one of our school sites.
Donations allow us to host/hire more interns, pay interns a wage that
aligns with their future goals, and expand our internship opportunities
to other high school and college sites. Our funding goal for this program
for 2025 is $25,000

Our Marvelous Interns!

Our Teaching Artists

Our teaching artists are professionals in their artistry and they graciously lend their expertise to our K-12 school sites. They co-create each course with the classroom teacher and students so that all programming reflects the uniqueness of our communities and is accessible and engaging for our diverse student groups. Your donations ensure that we can continue to pay our artists a competitive wage and eventually be able to hire full time, resident art staff for each school sites.

Pulse Arts supports all students in their pursuit of post secondary arts degrees and exploring career options in creative fields. Through our partnerships with Los Angeles Southwest College and Otis School of Art and Design, to our budding relationship with California State University Long Beach Art Department, we facilitate concurrent and dual-enrollment opportunities for studio arts and hope to extend that support at least through students first year of college. Your donations go towards tuition for art courses, funding to cover expensive art supplies/materials, and accessibility support so that all students have the same access to accelerated college courses in the arts. Our 2025 Goal is $50,000

Photojournalism

Photographer Darius Carter

Darius L. Carter is an acclaimed portrait and commercial
advertising photographer based in Los Angeles, California.
He creates work that speaks to his appreciation of the
human
condition- our nuances, our differences, and our unique,
lived experiences.

“I really enjoyed the photojournalism
opportunity with Mr. D. It gave us
something new and exciting to do in our
class, while also teaching us.

” It was an amazing experience to have Darius Carter visit our school.
It was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced before and we
would love to have him visit us again and teach us more about his
journey of becoming a successful professional photographer.”

We completed our Fall Semester pilot of our photography/photojournalism class with Middle College High School on Los Angeles Southwest College campus to rave reviews! Students definitely want this program to return in the spring and we want it to be part of our regular course offerings for 6th-12th grade students. We are also in talks with LASC to see how a certification course in photography can be created at the college level so that our students can open up more post graduation opportunities. Our Goal for this program for 2025 is $30,000 to cover Darius and his team, additional equipment, field trips, paid apprenticeships, and a public exhibition of student work.

Our Newest Partnership!!

PULSE ARTS and SWIIRL

Swiirl is an AI-powered platform designed to amplify positive, impactful stories
created by communities. We work with brands to commission authentic content
from emerging creators in schools and local organizations, then distribute that
content directly into the same communities via trusted networks like school
districts and local organizations. This model not only drives engagement
and visibility for brands but also generates meaningful impact for
the creators and their communities.

Pulse Arts is excited to be in partnership with SWIIRL. Our students and
teaching artists have the opportunity to have their work purchased or
licensed by brands to create authentic engagement to be used
in local and national activations. SWIIRL believes in valuing the artist AND
their work with the same intentionality as Pulse Arts and we are grateful
to be connected on this journey.

Pulse Arts collective

The Pulse Artists’ Collective was created in Summer 2024 as an opportunity
to expand the art palettes of our communities with the work of our teaching
artists. When you purchase their work or hire one of these creatives, you can
rest assured that the artist is receiving their full payment and that Pulse Arts
is here to celebrate and support their growth. We hire local, professional
artists because we know how important it is to elevate individual creatives
and we will always VALUE the artist and their work.
